Basically the more expensive umbrellas have nicer features and thicker material. For example, a more expensive umbrella might be able to tilt in various directions. It might be able to open "continuously", meaning it can be opened as little or as much as you like (as opposed to cheaper ones that are either totally open or totally closed). Also more expensive ones might be larger, and made with more durable material.

Man some of my regular umbrellas are in the $50-100 range. I don't know how decent these will be in a real outdoors setting....probably look nice for a while / until a major gust.

You apparently failed to read the topic summary, me thinks.... He already called people on their bad jokes before anyone could reply.

I saw that, but you can't leave yourself open like that and depend on a little disclaimer to stop it from happening.

Not to mention the fact that the only difference really is...$50.

OK, I have sold high end outdoor furniture/umbrellas/grills for about 5 years now. You don't want to cheap out on outdoor products such as these unless you don't have a problem replacing them every one to two seasons. Seriously. The most reasonable/good quality 9' Market style umbrella is made by Treasure Garden. It is made in China but most umbrellas are, except for extremely high end "Shade Architecture" from companies such as Tuuci out of California...unnecessary.

You may be able to find one on sale for as low as 220-250. Trust me it's worth it.
-All aluminum frame
-High quality aluminum
-Easy open and close with a crank and good quality cord/ some models tilt with the crank as well.
-Excellent quality outdoor fabric that will not fade, mildew, mold, retain water etc...

WHENEVER THE UMBRELLA IS NOT IN USE CLOSE IT IF A STRONG WIND COMES IT WILL BREAK YOUR UMBRELLA AND MOST LIKELY KNOCK YOUR TABLE OVER DAMAGING THAT AS WELL!!

THE BASE SHOULD BE AT LEAST 50 LBS IF USED IN A TABLE, STAND ALONE SHOULD BE 80-100LBS. SAME RULE AS ABOVE FOR STAND ALONE!

Steel or aluminum bases are fine, avoid overly heavy stone/resin/ceramic mix bases.

A Treasure Garden 9' Market will last you 10-15 years with reasonable cleaning, and can even be repaired if something does break for next to nothing, at my shop we repair for free if its one of ours.

Except no cheap imitators or pay the consequences!
