I understand the difference between Intel chipsets in terms of the Q/P/G, but what exactly is different in the X brand ones? Please don't say something vuege like "they OC better" that doesn't tell me whats changed.

Is it only:
1. Faster DDR3
2. EE

??

Thank you!

G has integrated graphics. P doesnt.

G33 and P35 and Q35 are actualy the same die with different things disabled (i have checked the docs for dies sizes) and the same with P45 and G43 even have the same TDP . Q45 = G45 as well. Q35 = G35.

Q series is buisiness and is basically the G one with things like intel AMT support and other things like ASF support (some management framework). I think the P series are the only ones that can do things like split a x16 pci-e 2.0 into 2 x8 ones. But thats really just "crippled" in the other chipsets i'm sure.

X brand is high end. X48 has 2x PCI-E x16 2.0 slots IIRC. As opposed to 1 in the P45.

X58 will be an entirely new CPU socket from P55 though.

Haha my bad... the X ones generally just have more pci-E lanes, and use more power. some of them officially dont support DDR2 (like the x38/x48)
