I am wondering what is the diff except for the faster read/write access.

I have a sony f717, and when i shoot a video clip, it is blurry and bad, really bad, i have seen better on a Minolta XT and Canon S200.

Would the quality improve if i use Memory Stick Pro as i am using the regular memory stick.

If it matters, i have the settings to email, so when it shoots a pic, it automaticaly have a copy but in a smaller file for emails.

Thanks.
Dan

the difference is how much sony rapes you on the propriatary memory.

;)

memory has nothing to do with quality. garbage in, garbage out

I thought memory stick pros could go over the 128mb limit the regular memory sticks couldnt. I dunno, I only own 1 memory stick and thats just for extra space in my Clie

Memory STick Pro = Faster Read/Write

It also supports more than 128 mb. If you have a regular 256/512 mb ms, it will be split into 128mb partitions, requiring you to access each one seperately.

I say go for it.

faster speed is the difference between memory stick and memory stick pro. the reason your videos are turning out like crap is because they're on the email setting. change it to the normal 320x240 or 320x240 hi quality and it should be much better. (i have a 717 too)

Sony's just own on the movie modes in their DSC's.

EDIT: The Pro's have a bigger memory availability. Regular ones only go to 256, and thats having two 128's in one stick where you ahve to use a siwtch. The pro's are just one big stick. Also, the Pro's have some kind of anti-pirating "technology" in them that takes up some space, so you don't really get 512, 256 megs of room. That sucks, but the larger space, faster read/write/transfer times make up for it in my eyes.

And about price, they seem to me to be right around the price of like Secure DIgital and such now. Not a lot more expensive like they used to be.
