Maybe if you were more specific. DSL comes through the phone line, while cable come through the cable. What exactly are you asking about? Speed? Reliability? Ease of setup?

DSL is a dedicated pipe from a telco, cable is shared bandwidth from an evil cable company.

DSL comes in many different flavors, so you can choose whatever suits your needs. Cable comes in one flavor, so you're stuck with whatever crappy connection they force you to share with your neighbors.

BTW, I like DSL better.:)

RUSS,
generally cable is significantly faster than DSL. I get about 5 Mbs on mine.

ps - results may vary :)

Spidey,

In my area ALL cable connections are capped at 128Kb upload. I can get DSL up to 1Mb upload (and 7.1Mb download).

Now, for most people, the upload cap doesn't really matter. But, for me it's important.

And, that nice speedy cable download may not always be there. If node growth exceeds infrastructure growth, it'll shrink. When I was a kid we were on a party line. Didn't like it then, don't like it now.

Of course, cable is available in many areas where DSL isn't so, obviously, the choice is clear if it's that or dialup.
