Hello, i had a problem with my monitor and playing games, i fixed the problem by setting the refresh rate on my monitor from optimal to adapter default. I havent noticed a difference, but i havent played that many games yet on the new adapter default setting. am i not getting the refresh rate i should be getting with optimal on my monitor now that it is set to adapter default?? please help

Adapter Default is normally equivelant to a 60Hz refresh rate. Your refresh rate can be changed with a few programs that are out on the web. A lot of times, newer drivers tend to set the default refresh rates higher because low refresh rates tend to give people eye-strain and headaches. I am one who suffers from those. 🙂 Anything below 75Hz is unacceptable to me. That's only a preference, however.

Optimal is a setting where Windows will select the best refresh rate according to the monitor and video card drivers and specs. Most people prefer higher refresh rates.

I am unaware of a possible bug with refresh rates causing crashes/lockups in games, but I do not play many games though. If it's working and you are satisfied, then be happy. 😉
