What's the deal with WMA files these days?

I see them out there more than mp3's. Did I miss something?

Default format for Media Centre rips, so any noobs posting songs often do so in WMA. That said, it sounds much nicer for a given bitrate so I'm really not complaining...

Ditto. I rip my cds and my new HDCD's in wma lossless

Anything that encode in up to 24bit 96khz lossless is good in my book:beer:
