What's the deal with this popup?

I'm not sure that this is the right forum, but here goes. Lately, I've been getting this JavaScript popup from time to time on various sites asking me if I want to open or save a .js file. I took a screenshot of it just a second ago appearing when I try and read AT General Hardware. It doesn't happen in Off Topic, though. Screenshot here. Anyone know what's causing these things to come up and what I can do to make them stop? They're driving me crazy. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Edit: I apologize if the webserver is slow. It's my university account and apparently they've been having some trouble with the network the past few weeks.

I remember getting the exact same thing a while back, also from googlesyndication. Unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember how I got them to stop :p

It was probably either using Proxomitron or the switch to Firefox. But I'm sure there's a simple solution for it.

I run Ad-Aware and Spybot every few days and AVG Anti-Virus runs daily. As far as I can tell, the system is clean.

I'm sure switching to Firefox would make the problem go away. And I already use Proxomitron. If you remember what you did to make it go away, I'd love to hear it :)

Thanks for both of your replies.

I did a little quick googling of my own just a second ago and found a thread at another forum specifically about this problem. I didn't see any fix for it but I did see how to make Proxomitron block the popup. I did that and it appears to have worked. I'm still curious as to what's causing it, though, and I'll have to go through Schadenfroh's thread and see if anything comes up.
