Sometimes, but sometimes it's just mis-communication. The job my wife recently got, she never received a call when they said they would call, so she called and left a message, days went by still didn't hear back, left another message and emailed. Finally she called the principle of the school (she's a teacher), and he said she had gotten the job, but was under the impression his admin assistant had called her and told her she got the job before she left for PTO. She didn't, went on vacation, didn't get my wife's messages, so my wife assumed she didn't get the job, and the principle assumed she knew she got it but was taking her sweet time to respond to the offer. Laughs were had.

It might just be me, but your post was hard to follow. First you call the principal a "she', then say "he/his", and then you throw so many she's/her's in one sentence.

Maybe they found someone who is better and cheaper than the OP. :\

Just one call (within 1 business week) for a interview follow up should be enough. More than that you give a bad impression.

Unfortunately for a lot of companies now this is SOP. Basically as a job candidate you are expected to extend every curtesy to them and they can turn around and treat you like crap. IE not calling back when they told you. Calling you at the last minute to come in for one more interview and then get upset at you when you tell them you cannot be at the office in the next 30mins because you live 45mins away etc.
