What's the deal with the UT 2003 demo?

I read on a couple places on the web (don't quote me cuz I can't remember where) that UT 2003 would only be barely playable on a low end vidcard like a Radeon 8500LE, but I have run the demo and quite playably on a 750MHz machine with an original GeForce 32MB SDR?!? It positively flies on my Radeon 8500LE 64MB. So whats the deal? Is the actual game much more dificult to render then the demo, or is what I read about needing a GeForce 4 total BS?!?

Most crank up the detail levels and turn everything on. They will complain fiercely if the performance isn't up to snuff. With a strong CPU and a GF4 you can do that and performance is still good.

I've hesitated picking up UT2k3 because it would be a waste of money seeing as how i'm limited to 56k and the heart and soul of the game is multiplayer. But, how do you guys think it would run on:

1700xp
256mb DDR
LeadTek GF3 ti200 64mb (stock)

My resolution of choice is and always will be 1024x768. I'd like to get my hands on the demo, but 100mb on 56k....puuuuhlease.
