The 430 southbridge is supposed to support full Azalia high def sound. Why in the world would they couple it with a non-high def codec? The 850 realtek codec is NOT high def from my research. IT has 16bit Dac's and such. Realtek doesn't do High Def until the 880 version codec which will do 24bit dacs.

Why in the world would Foxconn screw up this mobo's sound like that?? I wish I did more sound research before I bought the mobo. A couple reviews simply said it has high def sound but nothing else. But they appear to be wrong since it comes with the 850 codec.

Am I wrong on the boards codec not allowing high definition sound??

Thanks for confirming it. I have no idea why they would ruin the azalia audio like that. I highly doubt the 880 codec would have cost all that much more than the 850 codec. Guess I will eventually get my wifes tivo a pci sound card. Sad sad sad I say.
