What's the deal with the e-mails from "Microsoft"?

In the past four days at my yahoo account, I've received probably 14 megs worth of the virus. I average 30 spams a day, and pretty much half are the virus now. it gets old quick.

I have disabled html in my mail account, but I believe the page layout is similar to that on M$ website.

The email also came with an attachment - NSTALLATION448.exe

which, when scanned by Norton AV (Yahoo's service) , showed "Scan result: Virus W32.Swen.A@mm found. File not cleaned."

Nice, isnt it?

Yeah, it's a virus and a nasty one. I dealth with a guy at work who was infected with it, and he couldn't run any exe files, which makes fixing it kinda hard. We tried renaming to .bat and .cmd, but we got nothing. Basically had to tell him he needed to reinstall Windows on two computers (he wanted protection on both, o' course). Ah, the joys of tech support.
