whats the deal with the availability of Canon A70?

anybody know if the BM stores or online retailers have these things in stock now?

i recommended it to my EXTREMELY CHEAP aunt and, last month, instead of buying the VERY LAST ONE available in all of dallas/ft worth for 250$+ tax, she decided to buy it from an online place for ~265 shipped.

well, they said theyre back ordered, and she really wants a digital camera. shes really bugging me to get her an a70 but wont even consider the ads for the 299$ in BM stores (i doubt they have them anyways)

It is all over the country. No one has them. I went to Best Buy to get one and the girl there told me that they are having trouble keeping up with the demand due to a shortage of a particular part.

I want one and haven't been able to find one ANYWHERE for two weeks.

Canon has been like that lately.

Seems like cameras in general are a bitch to keep in stock.

A couple weeks ago I ordered an S400 from Dell, it was backordered several weeks.

Last week I ordered a Minolta Dimage S414 (again from Dell), it too is backordered for well over a week.

Maybe it's just Dell.

I actually ordered a S400 when Dell had their legit 15% + 10% deals like three or four weeks ago. It was backordered with a scheduled ship date of the week of July 4th. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it the week before the 4th.

Some B&M stores do have A70's in stock but you won't find it for less than $299 (without coupon or PM).

I have scoured the Atlanta are with zero success. Sounds like I am not the only one having a problem locating one.
