Just bought my daughter an iBook, knowing that Apple mice only have one click button. Never actually used one, but I know people with Apples and they love them but shrug and say well, you get used to the one click and it doesnt matter that much.

She was frustrated with it and plugged in her old Microsoft wheelmouse optical, and hey! All the wheel-scrolling and left and right clicking stuff seems to be there. Why didn't Apple tell me? Why don't they sell one? Am I missing something here?

JHU:

At the time I guess I just said, well, she's GOTTA have some kind of mouse. It's the first laptop she's ever had. I have a laptop for work and cant stand the touchpad thing. I looked at the $44 price tag and thought well what else can I do, she has to have a mouse.

But the iBook itself is wonderful and she loves it. And with the Microsoft Mouse she's all set.

I looked on the Apple site and they do allow returns of merchandise, but there's a 10% fee apparently, for any item that's been opened

Well, using a three button mouse does strain the mind a hell of a lot more than Apple's current one button design!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.....!

I dont mind using the one button mouse. But I have to be more productive, and the one button mouse just doesnt cut it. So I replaced the one button mouse with an 18 dollar 4 button Logitech mouse that I purchased from a local Wal Mart. Built in support for the scroll wheel, programed right click, programed application switcher. I also assigned the "see all windows open" expose feature to the scroll wheel click. Works like a charm.

Best 18 bucks I have ever spent. ;)
