Consumer reviews are a valuable tool for consumers.

There's a trust involved - they can be abused.

Reputationl.com has ads out pointing out how bad reviews can cost the business cusotmers, and offering a service to create positive reviews.

So they just hire people to run around on review websites and post lies to destroy the value of the reviews? That's really disgusting and abusive if that's the scheme.

They make a buck at the expense of all the customers getting accurate information and avoiding bad merchants. Huge sleaze.

If that's the case it'd be nice to think of something to do against that company.

I figured they threatened the websites with lawsuits to force them to take the bad reviews down.

Some customers will give bad reviews over stupid shit. Mostly because they don't think store rules shouldn't apply to them. We got people give us a zero on our in house surveys because we required a credit card to rent a car, or they had to pay for gas because they didn't return it full.

For the most part, they are in the minority. If the majority of your reviews are bad, the problem is not the consumer, it's you as a business. The easiest way to avoid this problem is to make sure clients get good service. It's really that simple. Using these "reputation" sites is unethical IMO and doesn't really solve the problem. You can remove them from the internet, but not word of mouth.

Read a little more on it, they don't directly say they make phony reviews, but they say vague things like "We respond strategically to negative reviews as appropriate".

Probably like the credit rating fixers, send you a bill for doing nothing!

i have never heard of it, so its pretty much a nonfactor
It is advertised on the radio quite a bit. I hear about it all the time on sports radio.

Their ad seems to be targeted to business people, doctors, lawyers, etc.
