whats the deal with pork?

It was a very good idea for early societies to adopt cleanliness rituals, including those of diet... Bad pork will kill you.

They are considered unclean.

whats the origin of this? i mean last time I checked the conditions chickens are raised in were not the cleanest

Do chickens roll around in their own poop?

Stop thinking of modern chicken farms, and start thinking of actual farms.

Pigs roll around in their own filth all day long and eat slop, so they are said to be filthy animals and are at the very bottom of the food chain (or close to it), so therefore a lot of religions say their god(s) forbid eating a filthy animal.

<-- sausage patty sitting in stomach right now, mmmm pork

it's tasty. mmmmmm bacon. 🙂

other cultures are st00pid .. that's why they don't eat the pr0k. 😛

I'm not a biology or history buff, so i can't help you. But fertilizer is not the same as rolling around in your own feces.

pigs will live in the conditions your give them. there are wild pigs that certainly dont do this. arent there ways to raise a big not to live in its own filth

In India, most Hindus won't eat pork, even though it's not forbidden by Hinduism.

The kind of pigs you have here in America and Europe don't exist in India. Pigs there are hairy, wild boars that run around on the streets eating garbage. That's why most people wouldn't eat pork there.

I think its because pork meat has ring worms, but dont worry if you cook it well you wont have any problems

The pigs digestive system do not kill parasites and molds, which then get stored directly into the meat. Cattle meat is clean, with some toxins stored in the outer layer of fat (which you're supposed to discard). But with pigs what you eat is what they eat.

Those who don't eat pork OVERWHELMINGLY won't eat shrimp either - or shark - because they're bottom-feeders. They're scavengers and they eat dead things. If they killed their meals, that would be better. They'd be freshly dead. Scavengers are lowest on the food chain, so religions usually say they are above those animals.

Pork is supposed to be the closest thing to human flesh, by banning the consumption of pork, it also slowed down cannibalism.

I want a :cookie: for knowing that BTW😀

LMAO! Not ring worms! Ring worm is a fungal infection like athletes foot. There's no actual worm if you're infected with ring worm. Pigs have trichinella worm parasites, I think that's what you are thinking of. If you don't cook pork well enough, you won't kill the worms and you'll get Trichinosis. I had an Albanian co worker who was an intern with me, I think he was a muslim. He could not stand any food product related to pigs. I used to gross him out by eating my ham sandwiches for lunch at my desk right next to him, hahaha!
