What's the deal with poker on TV?

Especially when there are exciting football games that are being played. Poker is fun to play and all, but since when did it become a spectator sport? What is wrong with people?

Don't get me wrong, it's a fun card game and I like to bet and win money and socialize...but come on...watching it on national TV? What's next, world-championship risk tournaments on TV?

didnt they schedule the rps championships?

I love poker and will watch it if it is on..but I wont go out of my way. Most of the poker on TV is crap poker anyway. They have these huge tournies (WPT) that have a lot of people in them for a lot of money..and then when they get to the final table they raise the blinds way to fast and high...why? Because they insist on making it a 1hour show, and because people like to watch all ins. This is not real poker...I would much rather watch the actual game then what they pick me to see ...which is an all in fest whith huge blinds.

The WSOP is much better cause the blind structure at the FT is normal. The viewers still get a false view of poker because they start to think that EVERy hand is an action hand...they never show the..fold fold fold fold fold fold fold...BB takes the pot ones lol.

Really, I could ask you the same thing.

What is wrong with you wanting to watch a game in which men wear ass hugging tight uniforms, and superfluously slap one another on the ass while trying to run a pigskin across a hundred yard field? 😕

It's all about what you are in to. I watch the WPT all the time, I find it quite enjoyable, I can't stand football or basketball, for that matter watching any sport on tv. It's so boring with all their rules and regulations, all those bells and timers.. Poker is simple, and Texas Hold'em is a fun game to play and watch.

So... To each his/her own.

🙂

It's fun to play...but to watch? How do you figure out who to root for? It's not like Seattle has a team.
