Whats the deal with Halo coop play?

Me and a friend want to play together on one system either campaign or online. Are either of these options available yet? I read a while ago that HALO 3 might delay the coop part of the game until next year via xbox live updates.

Just select campaign, then have your friend log into an account (local or live) and you should be able to play. If his controller is on, it will show a green circle and say "join".

YOu can play online coop also, you just have to invite your friend over xbox live into your lobby

I'll take comedy routines that Seinfeld would use if he were a gamer for a thousand, Alex.

I went through H3 twice on online co-op.

So online coop is playing with some random internet person and local is with controller 2?

What about playing a big slayer match on the same console.

Well you can do both. It supports up to 4 people co-op (with 2 max per console). I don't know how many people the normal multiplayer modes support per console though.

Standard multi player you can have 3 guests (4 people on one account) but you're limited to social matches. Co op you're limited to 2 per console (1 guest) but you can still get 4 players over system link or Xbox Live. Also Co op is pretty much limited to friends and recent players since there isn't any kind of matchmaking for co op.

I believe that 4-player split-screen is supported, as it is with most console FPSs. I played 3-player split-screen Slayer this weekend.

Anyone know how many players are allowed per console with System Link? I found lots of detailed information on co-op, but nothing on standard multi player aside from "up to 16 players per game". We want to link 2 systems and have up to 8 players, but 2x2 = 4 isn't worth bringing the second system over.

Halo 1 had 4 player per xbox on system link, so I would think Halo 3 is the same 🙂
