I've noticed that everyone prefers the C1 stepping, and when I checked the box that my 2.53 came in, it's the C1 stepping batch. Should I be jumping for joy? What makes C1 stepping better? Thanks

C1 steppings are newer revisions of the Intel product line. Whats so amazing about them is that alot of the Dell C1 P4 1.8A pulls yielded some amazing overclocks (3.2ghz w/ stock voltage), as also the 2.4Bs and other speeds. I may be mistaken, but I thought all 2.53 P4s were C1 chips?

You are mistaken in that all P4 - 2.66 and 2.8 cpu's are C1's, but the first batch of 2.53's were not C1 chips.

The common belief is that the C1 stepping silicon revision was developed to accomodate the higher speed cpu's such as the 2.66, 2.8, and 3.06; the results clearly demonstrate that most (if not all) lower-clocked C1 stepping P4's (1.8, 2.0, 2.4) are able to achieve these speeds, if not higher.

Nice. Now all I need to get is a good MB to compliment the o/c'ing potential of the cpu.
