am I getting a refund? did I buy a license to play the game until the publisher or google gets tired of supporting it?

super monkey ball 2 is no longer on the market. if it weren't for my titanium backups, I wouldn't have it anymore. which isn't fair

i have developed multiple android apps and i've had my apps pulled from the store erroneously because a company filed a DMCA notice with google. they don't even vet anything at all, they simply pull it, and you have no way to get it back on the market. they have an appeal link to dispute it, which i did telling them that i had absolutely no copyrighted material in my app, and that all graphics are 100% created by me, but they did not care and won't let me put it back on the store.

that's BS. there's got to be some recourse for the damages? Can you get who filed the DMCA?

I watch a podcast network called TWIT.tv, they run a bunch of tech podcasts and publish them on YouTube (and other places). And they've had problems with Google pulling their shows over bogus DMCA claims. And from their experience it sounds like Google is horrible and responding to appeals. Either you get no answer or it takes ages for them to restore the content. Google is definitely not on their customer's side in this process, you are guilty until you prove your innocence.

Looking at it, Sega was the one who pulled the app. They pulled a bunch of old apps recently:

If you bought it you should still have access if your current device supports it. Also you can always just sideload the apk.

How is this any different from when a developer voluntarily stops updating an app without pulling it? Why do you feel that you should be entitled to a refund?

You still have access to download all your paid purchases, regardless of whether the developer chooses to pull the app or not.
Click Play Store icon on phone >>>> My apps >>> ALL.

Sega is the one that decided to pull all their apps from Google, Amazon, and iOS.
Stop blaming Google/Android for everything.

If you can't download it, then it's either you did not legally purchase the software legally or this is a pebkac issue for you.

The blog post makes it clear the games aren't being completely pulled from Google's servers. They're really just being de-listed, which means if you've previously bought a game that SEGA ends up dumping, it will still be accessible to you
Most likely this is a pebkac issue.

oh I bought it alright

the last time I'm aware of this happened to me was Sim City Deluxe, and before that was a SomaFM streaming app. All paid, though Sim and SMB2 were 'Google Play Deals' that occurred during holidays

In that case I want Microsoft to refund me for 4 copies of Windows XP and a few versions of office. :colbert:

I found Super Monkey Ball 2 in my list of apps that I purchased.
It took me a while to find it, but it was still there.

i'd rather not go up against a major company when in the end it's probably just going to net me way less than the lawyer fees would be lol.

if you write more than one app, word would get around you don't play. what was I thinking. It's called the Play store...

but I understand the sentiment
