ive been trying to get a Wii for the last week or so and no matter how hard i try im always missing the shipment that gets sold out in 2 seconds. I went to circuit city the other day and they had no Wii's, but they had 15!!! boxes of PS3 sitting behind the counter. I almost bought one because i heard they can still sell on ebay for $1k...

so are Wii's in some super shortage right now?

Most of the stores here sell out within 4 hours of opening after they get a shipment in. I just missed it last week. Gonna try again next week.

Why would they sell for 1k when you can go to any store and get one for 600?

They are having a shortage because they are still very in demand. Not so much demand for the PS3, though. My friend had a hell of a time trying to pick up a Wii after he tried mines. In the end he ended up camping outside the Nintendo world store, where they get new units in each morning. They usually sell out before they even open though.

OP:

Think for a moment what you just posted... If your local CC had 15 PS3's, what makes you think no other stores have them? The PS3 is available because it is outrageously priced. The initial high demand was from the hardcore gamers that just had to have one. If your local CC has 15 of them, why should I pay $1000 to buy one on eBay when I can just come to your local CC and buy one for MSRP?

Make sense?

I love how people casually wake up and decide they want one of the highest demand items this season and are confused as to why they can't find them.

i have the same problem :( been trying to get a wii forever, but effing ****** is sold out everywhere, and all shipments sell out as soon as they open the box.. there must be people waiting in the store for them to get fedex or ups or however they get shipment..

ps3's are everywhere, tons of them. one lady at eb games told me she hasnt sold one in 4 days.

im hoping this week it will be easier to get a wii, being that people who are in high school are back in school starting this week. i called a few places today said they don't have any stock so i'm gonna try again tomorrow.

you seriously think that ps3s will still sell on ebay for $1k+ when there are 15 in your local CC?

ps3 sucks, thats why there are still so many available. either that or those are the ones the ebayers are returning because they are selling for under cost, lol.

I still don't get why there is a shortage of supply. All that talk about the hardware being relatively inexpensive. Are they just not putting enough factory power into making them?

Definitely don't buy a ps3 to resell. I went this weekend to BB and target and they both had 4 or more PS3 60gbs and no wiis, wii remotes, or wii controllers.

Wow looks like Nintendo really pulled through this time and is laying down teh pwnstick on Sony.

It was either this or it was over for Nintendo, glad they did it right.

Well . . . Yes! Because if people are buying PS3 wristbands for $500, who knows what they'll pay for the actual thing.

Why? It's simple. The PS3 is an overpriced graphics powerhouse targeted at people with disposable income. The Wii on the other hand is reasonably priced, chock full of innovation, and targeted at EVERYONE, not just those with $600 to burn.

i checked nintendo world today and this is no longer the case. they didn't get any in today and don't know when they're getting the next shipment.

I went to CC and EBGames this morning to try to get a Wii. Both stores said they would have them Tuesday morning, but nope. :(

I have enough games to hold me over though so it's no big deal.

um...no. Not at all.

I dunno, if they bombed, they probably would have bombed hard. I'm sure they could still keep their portable division alive, but it certainly could have been the death of their attempts at the console market.

I think Sony pwnt themselves this time around. Nintendo is not a direct competitor. As much as everyone likes to tout graphics don't make a console, it sure as hell does help in certain types of games. Whether or not it's worth it is a different story. As the market shows... it ain't worth it yet. Well, you can just get an xbox 360 and save some dough rather.

Unless you're a hardcore FF fan. And a hardcore GT fan.

Hah. I haven't really tried looking hard for either console (Already have a Wii, and I'll wait a bit for a PS3, maybe....), but last saturday when I was running all over town looking for Nerf stuff, Toysrus has at least 6 Wiis.... and nobody was buying them.
