Wasn't it down to the high $600's one time with the kit lens?

I'm thinking about just getting it with the kit lens since I heard the price difference between kit and no kit lens is pretty small.

EXACTLY! I thought I remembered something like that from a long time ago. If I remember correctly I figured that a deal like that would come again, and this, combined with the fact that I didn't have much money, made me decide to just wait for the next price drop to the 600's.

I'm going to wait a while and buy one myself. Had the opportunity to use one for a weekend a while back. It was the most fun I've ever had...photographing.
 
Why wait? You could possibly wait another 6 months or so before it reaches the sub 700 mark again, and Dell has a great deal for 739. You'll be missing out on many moments to take pictures with a great camera to save $50 dollars.
 
Oh, I'm waiting for reasons other than price - saving up to move. I'm slowly packing away money for a digicam fund though. 🙂

Ok, the cheapest I could find is BeachCamera, has the silver XT w/ 18-55 it for 809. I might go ahead and take the plunge.

It won't, Dell lost a lot of money from DSLR's and iPods. I must have spent at least $50,000 at Dell in a few months.

I'd save up for a lens fund too. The kit lens is okay but a really good lens will perform better...assuming the operator actually knows how to use the camera.
