Whats the cheapest 2X DVD-R that will work on the Pioneer DVR-A03 drive ?

Also, is it legal for Pioneer to put a lock on their firmware so that it works only with media that they choose to partner with ?

I believe their latest firmware will allow you to burn at 2X on 1X media.

I have version 1.90 of the firmware and it *still* will not allow you to burn at 2X on generic media.

If you insert a Pioneer media ... I get the 2X option to show up ... so FWIW ... version 1.90 does not do the trick.

Can you send me the firmware you use ?
