Just like the title says.
I dont really want or need the best HSF money can buy. I want a budget HSF with awesome price-performance value.

Right now I am looking at True Spirit 120 from Thermalright which would cost me a total of about 42 dollars which is 30 bucks for the cooler and 12 dollar for shipping (there are some things that aint nice when you live in Hawaii).

The review is about 5 months old though so I hesitate to pull the trigger. Anything you guys could recommend me ?

Ouch, I tried buying it off Newegg and the shipping cost is $25.25.
I am gonna try amazon and some other places but it does not seem very promising at the moment.

Err, that was actually unintentional. I didn't mean to type it with a capital W. Eh. Seriously :S

If the 212 is too big to ship decently, then I'd go with the cooler in your original post if you can get it shipped for less. If you're OK with about 5C warmer temperatures, the CoolerMaster TX3 is nice too...good cooler (though not extreme), $19 at Newegg straight up (no mail in rebate), and essentially the same cooler as the 212, just shrunk to 92mm fan size (so should cost less to ship). My temps are 20-25C lower than the stock HSF with the TX3.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am going with the bigger brother, CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO, instead. It costs about 10 dollar more. Wish I could have more information on how it matches up with the Thermalright True Spirit 120.
In any case, Amazon have the super shipping option which means free shipping but takes about 2 weeks to get here.

Takes a week on the mainland. That's why I finally started using their Prime option. Its like 75 bucks a year but you get free two day shipping on items Amazon sells themselves (not their various other merchants though). Just make sure I spend enough in a year to justify it.

+1 on the basic 212.

if not for looks, there wouldn't be a need for any other aftermarket cooler.

I agree as well. +1 for basic 212.

The EVO is NOT worth the extra $10 over the basic 212+. The CM Hyper 212 Plus is hard to beat at the $20 price point. I got mine for $20 without a rebate off Amazon back in December.

Its a great cooler. You can manage the fan speeds on it very easily via mobo bios or speedfan. At 800ish rpm the fan is inaudible and it still keeps my CPU under 43C while gaming.

I would suggest you check out some reviews comparing the EVO and basic before you purchase because you will notice its maybe a 1C difference between the two.

Hmm, alright that does make sense. About 40% price increase for very little return.
I changed it back to the 212+ and used the extra money to buy a DeepCool Z5. Its seven grams of thermal paste for nine bucks.

The paste has decent review from this site :

The place is quite the rarity, having tons of reviews for thermal paste. Cant vouch for its accuracy since I know next to nada about thermal paste.

Also added a Logitech C920 webcam cos I need one.
