Whats the big deal with DVI?

I am currently using my Samsung 915N LCD. The big debate over it has been on it not having DVI. I do not understand what this is and why it is a big deal. My 6800GT that is on the way does not seem to have the normal monitor plugin (that I am using right now), but comes with two adapters to make it work. I am wondering how big of a deal this is because I think this monitor looks great.

One thing I really like about DVI is that monitor scaling seems to work a lot better for me. I use fixed aspect ratio scaling set by the video card. The actual video quality is almost equal between VGA and DVI on my 19" LCD.

Well my leadtek 6800GT only has DVI outputs (I think thats what they are). The Samsun 915N does not have DVI support. There are two adapters that come along with the video card, but I do not want this monitor if there is going to be a significant decrease in performance. If it was significant, I would rather eat the restocking fee (~$40) and get a DVI monitor.

At 19" standard resolution you wont see much. DVI is designed for hi-resoltuion and digital signals, in fact many 17 and 19" monitors with DVI are using DVI-A which is the Analog HD15 signal encapsulated in a DVI connector, no more. DVI is great for HDTV signal, and higher resolutions.

Just my $.02

Same with me and my Dell 2005FPW. I had a video card with only D-Sub output for a few days, and thought it was a significant upgrade to my old 19" CRT. Then when I got my new card with DVI-D the text was so much more crisp and clear I couldn't believe it.
