it's like everybody's forgotten that cell phones have full-color screens...

why not just put a glossy cell phone screen on an ipod instead? my v710 has a killer screen.

Yeah, that's true. I was looking at it at BB last night. It was so small they put like 5 tie-wraps on it to secure it to the display lol.

Having owned various mp3 players from various companies, i've ended up sticking w/ apple. Although they have less features than comparable players, a few things stick out to me. They just plain ass work well, very user intuitive operation, they integrate well (iTunes works perfectly for my needs), and they just look damn good.

For me, thats enough to make me a very happy customer.

My ancient Lyra suits me fine.
We have a friend with a ipod. It gets old hanging with her as she is always fiddling with it and she can only do one thing at a time.

She. She can only do one thing at a time.
Recently we were riding quads and she kept getting stuck because she could't ride and fiddle with the ipod at the same time. If anyone is talking to her, she has to stop and look at the ipod to turn it down so she can hear.

so that is drama queen's problem. i personally admit that the ipod doesn't sound as good as i expected it to, but like aphex said, it works, and it works well.

and now apple pulls away from the competition with its ultra small nano, at a reasonable price.

True. It just struck me when I was looking at the ipods on display, that most of the phones have nice color screens and no one even cares lol.

I like ipods tho. My wife has a shuffle, love it!

Okay. I went and checked out the Nano in person. It's an okay piece of kit... But it has one SEVERE flaw.

It's pocket-stuff size. Most normal humans have loose change in one pocket and car keys in the other (not counting metrosexuals, people who are in debt so damn far they havn't seen cash for 5 years and just use credit for EVERYTHING under the sun [though this is, admittedly, the iPod's primary market], and women with purses). Do you know what house keys and loose change would do to the finish on that thing? The shuffle was a piece of plastic crap. Can't make it look any worse than it already does. The other iPods were big enough to force people to keep them places other than their pants pockets, thus saving these expensive devices from the wrath of small metal objects. If you've ever had a daily-carry USB flash drive, you know what I'm talking about.

That's why they sell cover slips for $29 that only probably cost $0.01 to make. Huge profits for them and people can live knowing that their precious investment is protected.

Which is funny. Why buy a pretty piece of kit if you're going to hide it like that? And it still doesn't protect the LCD and still allows the docking connector to get fubarred (a big concern with keys)

ive owned 3 mp3 players, A rio a Creative Zen xtran and I now have a iAudio x5L, they all got the pocket to themselfs, never used the cover, never even purchased one

change goes in the right pocket with keys and cell phone, mp3 player get the left one
