Seems to get a lot of credit for mediocre music. "Gone Til November"!?!?! What the hell is that?
Obviously musical tastes vary but I just don't get why WJ is considerd a genius. MHO

If you're basing his musical talent off of one song, then you're generalizing and don't really know what you're talking about. :)

ummm...has wyclef had even ONE hit since his big album 3 or 4 years ago?
If musical talent is also based on record sales, then NSYNC and Britney Spears must be the most talented individuals. :)

Wyclef is alright, but I wish the Fugees would get it together and make another album as good as Blunted on Reality. The Score sucked.

Thanks for answering the question. You've really enlightened us all by strong points and concise arguments. You obviously know what you're talking about.:) Rather than pick apart an honest question, why don't you try answering it.:) The song I referred to is the only one that I could remember. I'm familiar with his work with the Fugees and enjoyed their music, however many years ago it was out. Perhaps it's his eclectic style or his affliation with the Fugees that has enabled him to get so much attention in his post Fugee career. The only video I can recall, it has been awhile, is that Gone till November song. Those of you who like the song, bully for you. I'm not attacking your musical taste, I'm questioning the validity of referring to someone such as Wyclef Jean as genius or even above average. If I've missed something somewhere that would entitle him to such high status, bring it on. That's why I asked the question in the first place.

Well, who called him a genius in the first place?

This could answer your question. If he's not writing his own music, maybe he's helping others with their own. Maybe he's producing instead of performing. Being a musical genius doesn't just come from playing and performing.

Maybe you can find a VH1 "Where are they now?" and hopefully that will answer your question. :)

I see. Well, I guess I'm wondering what that has to do with his musical talents. :p

Wyclef Jean is a good artist.... yeah i know there are quite a few in the media who call him a genius... u see Wyclef Jean is an african american who doesnt sing violent ,misogynist, homosexual hating music.... this appeals to a few people in the media who are desperate to lionize black artists for the sake of polictical correctness in their news, they do this more to artists like Wyclef Jean because they are totally against the brand of violent music released by the rap artists who are african american. In other words Wyclef Jean play peaceful music most of the time and also he doesnt go around screaming about black empowerment etc.

before anyone flames me...this is just a opinion from an individual.

I quit keeping up with pop music after watching the summer of '98 be rules by Puff Daddy. I have very little respect for the entertainment industry these days, they just put out crap

Every other place I've checked is like 12 or 15 bucks. This deal should be posted in the hot deals forum cuz i Know there are others who like 'clef too.

January, february, march, april, may... I hear you crying, but girl I can't stay... I'll be gone till November.
Just cuz she dances go-go, that don't make her a ho, no.
