Is it that you get 1000mb space? That it is searchable?

Just wondering...

...and its Google.

Seriously, I like it because the interface is clean, I can access it from anywhere, and its a gig of space. Not that I'll ever use it, but its good to be there. My Hotmail accout is atrocious. I can't stand all those ads. Do I care that "Google is reading my e-mail"? Nope, because no human is doing it. Just a machine. And I can stand the AdSense word ads, they don't bother me. Actually clicked on one the other day.

Cleanest interface of any web based e-mail I've ever used. Ads are non intrusive, and the layout of features is simple and handy. The space and the Google name are icing on the cake.

It always takes me a bit longer to find the reply button on gmail's layout. It's good for receiving pics from the family though....

Clean interface, the spam filter absolutely ROCKS, flagging is cool, 1000 mb of space, threaded replies (my favorite features) etc. etc.

^ what they said. also helpful when sending graphics to my friend. that 1000mb really comes in handy when you want to transfer a 30mb *.psd file while both of you are at work.

i like the shortcut keys (hitting C auto-puts you into compose mode... and R for reply)... huge deal. And the conversation view is a great concept.

and I agree. Its far better than any other free e-mail. I hate logging into yahoo or hotmail and then STILL have to click another link to view my inbox. now, gmail with the notifier is unbeatable.

...and because I can use the Gmail Notifier for Firefox :)

The only thing I don't like is that I can't open my emails in tabs.

There's a hand-shaped dent in my forehead right now.

I had no idea about that feature. Maybe I should RTFM once in awhile. ;)

Well.. it is also an example of a very excellent web application.. it uses very complex Javascript and is a prototype for the future direction of more and more typical desktop apps being migrated (finally) to the web. Wouldn't it be cool to have a roaming desktop? Right not I have a very hard time keeping the bookmarks the same at my work and home PCs that I just pretty much have given up that notion
