Amen to Amazon, I wish they carried more tech stuff. I'm looking forward to your impressions, thanks in advance for taking the time to put them up .Well I'll report back in a couple days my impressions of the asus 120hz monitor. It was a gut wrenching battle between it and the u2410 waged in my mind. In the end it came down to the fact I didn't want to purchase a 60hz monitor when the fact is it's a dying tech. I'd probably be in the same boat next year at this time since I believe 3d is gonna get bigger as it gets cheaper and developers start using it more. I was bored and started dragging windows across my screen and watched it get all blurry and distorted. I thought to myself man I wonder if my games look like this and I just don't pay attention anymore cause I'm use to it.
Will have the monitor tomorrow thanks to Amazon prime account.🙂 Monitor is $350 at the egg. Amazon price is $341 and since I have a prime account 1 day shipping is $5. I get the same monitor for $4 less than newegg and shipped next day. Gotta love amazon.🙂
Looking forward to my 120hz planar next week. I currently have their 26" ips for comparison.
So was yours 😉

LG is about to release a 120hz IPS monitor, called the LG E2370V. Apparently it is a new panel type called UH-IPS. It's not out in the states yet though. Link: http://thecoolgadgets.com/e2370v-lg...-quality-upscaling-uh-ips-display-technology/
"For your information, this LG Flatron E2370V model will exclude support for 3D viewing" 😕
That's the one I am looking at as well, please share your view on this here if you don't mind.
Well I got around to using the ASUS VG236HE and overall I'm happy.
First I've got to say yes 120hz does add a little more fluidity to the experience but I was a little disappointed by it. I guess I was expecting more. I think if we ever get 240hz monitors then you'll really get that smooth natural fluid motion. I just don't think 120hz is there but definitely an improvement over 60hz.
Second The main reason I will be keeping this monitor is because it's got a great screen. It had a little backlight bleed and the very top and very bottom but it was not bad and not noticeable while in normal use. Colors seemed to pop and overall had a very natural look to them. It was a huge improvement from the Dell I was using.
I would rate this monitor 8/10. I haven't had a chance to use this monitor for what it was really meant for which is 3d gaming ( I don't have the nvidia kit) but from just a normal use and 2d gaming experience it's a great monitor.

Ups just dropped it off this afternoon.
Edit -
Monitor (and stand) is all matte black aside from the edges around the screen which are glossy. Screen itself is also matte. No wire management built in the stand. OSD buttons are recessed inside the bottom edge instead of sticking out from the front. There's a Planar logo top mid and model number bottom right and neither are distracting. There's also a 3d Vision Nvidia sticker on the bottom left which thankfully is easily removed. Looks wise it's pretty nice, imo.
I have slight backlight leakage in the bottom right corner and along the top edge. It's not bad at all (slightly worse along the top). Horizontal angles are better than I expected. Vertical angles...well it's a tn panel. I have no dead/stuck pixels.
Color was slightly cold (blue tint) out of the box. Monitor has a 6500k, 7500k, and 9300k preset along with a user setting. I just used the Nvidia settings to tweak it though, and I would say I managed to get it reasonably close to the default colors on the px2611w (IPS). Colors are better than I expected but ymmv. The image itself is nice and crisp. (This comparison was just done side by side looking at my desktop wallpaper).
Dragging a window around was a huge improvement in fluidity. At a reasonable speed I could still read the letters and there's no way in hell I could at 60hz. I'll post gaming thoughts later when I get the chance to play something.
I do miss 16:10 and the extra real estate though.
Thanks, for taking the time, very appreciated! Any future thoughts or views would be appreciated as well.🙂
I've watched some over the air hdtv 720p and it looked great to me via tv tuner card. Haven't tried any blu ray yet.
