What's the best Windows OS and why?

What is your fav Windows OS (98, ME, etc.) and why? I have the choice of diff OSs to install on 2 computers and would appreciate some informative input from fellow users. Thanks ...

Win2k. Most stable, now supports 80-90% of older Win9x stuff, and everything new is released with Win2k support.
Win98SE can be stable if it's set up properly, but it can't come close to Win2k or Win2k's memory management.
WinME is garbage IMO.

2000 is best for almost any situation nowadays.
98SE is still good. It seems more stable now with IE6 thankfully.
I had a little squiz of ME ages ago and haven't touched it since.

Windows 2000 first choice, it is stable, uses ntfs, and has better security

Windows 98 if you have an older machine or are a hardcore gamer.

Windows XP if you got the cash. I haven't used it though so I don't know its advantages, but people say it is as good as Apple Pie.

2K definitely, it's the most rock solid windows software ever. Rebooting, lockups, and all that are now history (unless you got cr*ppy hardware drivers, but that shouldn't be blamed on MS)

XP, just as stable as 2K and looks so much nicer... 🙂
