Got one ordered and I've been researching. There are so many options but which is the best? Openelec? RASPMC, etc.?

Thanks

If it's just for media playback then OpenELEC is tough to beat. Boots straight to XBMC and the whole install will fit on a 128MB SD card. Everything's been stripped out so almost all resources are dedicated to media playback.

now, where to buy a bunch of cheap small SD cards?
32gb cards sell for about $15, which is overkill for any rasp pi project.
if only they sell 10 4gb cards for $20!

I know, I was shopping around for them, but you can't even really find 'em in anything smaller than sizes measured in GB. I dug the 256MB one that I'm using out of a little Hello, Kitty camera that my 8 year old had when she was 5 and it was sitting in a box of junk.

LOL.

OP, what parts did you order and from where. I am thinking of building one for the upstairs old analog TV.

I went to this site www.buyapi.ca and this is what I think I need

Raspberry Pi Model B × 1
Raspberry Pi Enclosure – Black × 1
Micro USB Raspberry Pi Power Supply – 5.25v 1500mA /w micro-USB cable × 1
Miniature WiFi USB Module for Raspberry Pi × 1
XBMC (OpenELEC) SD Card – 8 GB – Class 10 × 1
IR Wireless Remote Control Kit with Receiver Module × 1
FLIRC – RPi USB XBMC IR Remote Receiver × 1

Any suggestions?
