What's the best way to move to DVD/SVCD?

My brother has a vcr tape of his wedding and he wanted it to be put on cd to send to relatives and such. I got the tape transferred over to a .mpg file (used my tv tuner and the record button on it 😀 ). It looks fine, but now I need to transfer it over to a playable format on a dvd player.

I tried using EZ CD Creator and created a dvd, but near the end of the wedding the words get out of sync. It could be my computer, don't know... What would be the best way to fix this problem and to convert it over?

Thanks.

Yeah, I still have the problem with the sound getting out of sync at the end though. Is this a result of my computer or the file is just too big? It's a 1.2 gig file.

That is normal. Best thing to do is to use virtual dub on the original file and seperate the sound from the fiel as a .wav .

Then what program would I need to burn the video and the separate wav file?

TMPEnc should work very well.

dvdrhelp.com

I tried it the TMPEnc way and it kept giving me crc errors. I also tried a couple other methods spoken about on dvdrhelp.com and they were pretty complicated and took a lot of time. That site is definitely not geared towards making good copies in a simple way.

The easiest way I found was to use NERO. Its a 1 step process that works great. I migrated the data from my camcorder to my computer with a dazzle 80 hardware device and then edited the movie with pinnacle 8. Then copy it to dvd or svcd with NERO. I only used SVCD but it turned out great. I dont know if nero will put it in dvd format, but if not, there are tons of apps out there that can convert .avi to the vob format.

Oh, by the way, no audio sync issues at all. Everything is in sync and works great.
