What's the best way to maintain the 5 o'clock shadow look?

An electric razor obviously I guess but I've never used one so I'm not sure how. I'm 1/2 Asian so my facial hair grows really slowly. I can not shave for a week and I look like what my father looks like after not shaving for 2 days. I find though that I actually prefer the stubble look as I look a little too boyish when really clean shaven. I'm 25 and I think I look more so with some stubble, look more like 20 without it. I also have a fat round face, need to loose weight, so I look worse when clean shaven. Bowling ball head is not the look I'm going for. Only problem is I have some patches like around my lower cheeks where the hair grows even slower or not at all and it looks a bit patchy.

I look a bit like this clean shaven:

I use one of those little Remington trimmer thingies.

Gives me the perpetual "haven't shaved in 2 days" look. Which is probably like your week, but meh.

I wondered this too, right now I just don't shave for 4 days straight (except mustache), so I'm clean shaven for a day and then for the next 3 I'm scruffy.

Yeah I do the same...I have a norelco beard trimmer, and I just set it at number 4 or 5.

The best way to maintain the 5 o'clock shadow look is to go back to 1989 and ask Don Johnson how he does it.

That was my first thought as well.

Same. Didn't they release some products especially for this purpose?

Actually, believe it or not, that was where I got my suggestion. I remember reading an interview with DJ from about 20 years ago where he said he shaved with clippers to keep a constant 5 o'clock shadow.

#4 or 5? That seems a bit long for 5 o'clock shadow. I guess it depends on the clippers though. A #2 maintains my goatee length well, a #1 would be suitable for 5 O'clock shadow.

In any case, OP, if you have patchy facial hair then I would not try to grow a beard or shadow. You hair seems dark enough to make it noticeable...and then instead of thinking "bowling ball" people will think: "dirty SOB, probably doesn't shower either"

I recommend a fast plane, capable of maintaining a speed to match the Earth's rotation. Take off at 5, set your speed, and watch that perpetual 5 o'clock shadow do nothing.

I have a bodygroom trimmer that I buzz my stubble off with every couple of days. Works nicely and cost $20 or so.

Isn't called the 6 oclock shadow.

If you want a 5 oclock one you could probably shave your chin and just have the hair grow between your right ear and chin. That would be probably 5 oclock.

The biggest phenomenon of the island on Lost is how Jack and Sawyer maintain their stubble at the same length for months on end.

If you just keep the stubble short and uniform, it will eventually grow and fill in, that is unless you just don't have the genes for a hairy mug.

It's drawn on. They're both eunuchs, incapable of growing facial hair.

- Thread about shaving
- A link to an image called "main event large."

I was just a little more than hesitant to click that link.
