What's the best way to go?

I've seen in writing someplace, and have generally heard in my build experience that I was not to put ECC memory sticks in my desktop builds (amateur builder/hobbyist). I recently decided to try the SiSoftSandra program and it advises me to use ECC if I have a gig of memory (more than 512?). Which way is the best to go? here's my latest system;

Intel D865PERL MB
2 512MB DDR
2 Hitachi 80 GiG in Raid 0
GE 5900Xt card
3.2 GiG prescott Dual Channel
Using the on-board lan for a home network

I wouldnt worry about ECC, you dont need it as home/desktop user...it also has nothing to do with the amount of ram.
Besides, for the special scenario you think you want to use ECC error correction (server etc..) your motherboard also has to support ECC. But...as said..dont worry about ECC.

99% of home/desktop users use un-buffered, non ECC memory, the normal stuff.
