Lower your conspicuous carbohydrate consumption (soda pop, beer, pizza, donuts, etc.) and start a cardiopulmonary (aerobic) exercise program or a blended aerobic + weight-training program.

Better nip it in the bud now because it only gets harder the more you let yourself go. Things at rest tend to stay at rest.

Trust me on that. :disgust:

The Hacker's Diet
Its very basic... total calories consumed is the only significant factor in the diet.
Don't worry about health. 3500 calories = 1lb of fat.
my brother lost ~80 pounds this way.

Along those lines.....try to find and exercise activity that you actually like so you'll stick with it for the long term. If it feels like "work" you'll be more likely to blow it off and eventually quit altogether.

Ok, the beer is creeping up on me. I could stand to lose a couple pounds and get that 6 pack I've never had.

What's the best excersize for this and my upper body, and dare I ask for dietary advice as well?

Anything I can do while I nef?:)

actually running is the best way. but running for kilometers.
a friend's friend lost ~40 kilograms in 2 months by running every morning.

Again, diet = failure. Do NOT diet. Do NOT go hungry. Forget about counting calories.

Moderate your diet and eat clean, but eat all you need to keep from being hungry.

True, long term weight loss comes from exercise, not from dieting.

I have to agree. That's about 1.5lbs per day assuming 30 days = one month. It would take a caloric deficit of about 5200 kcal per day to acheive that.

I think what some people mean by "diet" is simply watching what you eat and cutting out the garbage- not starving necessarily.

Staying in shape requires a lifestyle change. There is no way around this. You're choices are:
1) Alter your diet. Eat healthy.
2) Excersize. Aerobic or Anaerobic
3) Some combination of #1 and 2.

Many people don't respond well to physical extertion (i.e. they're lazy) and would rather revise their diet.

Me? I love to eat, so cutting out starch and sugar would drive me crazy. I've been lifting weights since January and my dietary changes have been minimal. I drink a protein shake twice daily and take a multivitamin. Hell, if anything I eat more now than ever. I've gained 4 or 5 pounds and I'm seeing muscles I didn't know I had.

IMO, swimming is a much better excersize. You get some resistance from the water, you work out your entire body, and there is much less impact on your knees and ankles.

One thing I hate about swimming, once you get winded, it takes an exceptional swimmer to keep from inhaling lungfulls of water when you gasp for air. I'm a good swimmer, not great, but after 400-500 yards I'm tired, which makes breathing rythmically very difficult. Maybe I should find a decent snorkel to swim with?

Ahhh, so much to absorb! Ok, I'm inspired, but there is some conflicting information here. Let me wade through it...
