What's the best way to get a sticker off the box?

I need to send in the rebate for my TiVo. The UPC code is on the piece of paper glued to the box and I don't want to cut it out. Is there a way to get it off cleanly? I try pulling it off but it started to rip. Should I boil a pot of water and use the steam to get it off?

Score around the label with an X-acto or other sharp knife. Then lift up a corner of the area to be cut-out, carefully cutting into a thin layer of the (cardboard) box beneath the label. The entire label (with a thin portion of the box itself) will peel off easily.

Trouble occurs when you don't cut into enough of the box and nearly tear into the label itself.

Heat it with a hair dryer first and once it gets hot peal it off.

Thanks, that worked. A piece of advice, when cutting off a piece of cardboard, cut away from you. A almost cut my wrist just now.
