i put it in on the floor of my backseat and put the seat all the way back, so the monitor is snugly abainst it. No scratches yet. I dont know if it is good for anything smaller than 19" though.

After you're done, fold 1-2 feet of toilet paper and slowly wipe your anal area. Repeat as necessary.

Need any more help?

I generally pick it up and walk. That seems safe.

As for transportation, I try to put the monitor right beside the biggest speakers in my car. For instance, if you have a sub, put the monitor so it is as close to the voice coil as possible.

I just put my monitor in the back seat, with the screen facing the seat and it works fine for me, I've transported my monitor around plenty of times. No scratches so far.

when i was bringing my dad's 21" home, we just set it in the back seat with the screen against the back of the seat, and i just kept my hand on the back when we stopped so it didn't move, though it weighed so much i don't think it would have tipped ;)

here's wut u do...
place the monitor, screen facing the rear snug against the backseat behind the passenger side. I usually place mine upside down becuz i leave my swivel base on. then u slide the passenger seat all the way back as far as possible, and then recline it until it locks the monitor in place. i do this all the time with my 19" and it's perfectly safe. sometimes i cover it with beach towels or pillows to ensure maximum security. =)

Obviously you mean without a box.

I have transported many monitors and the best way, is to put it screen down into the seat. Then fasten the lap and shoulder belt around it. The heaviers part of the monitor if the front screen side. This is why it should be down. You also risk less damage to you, if you should get involved in an accident. Who cares about a $100 monitor. Transport it safely, but keep in mind your safety first.

I don't know how much it helps, but last time I had to move a monitor, someone had cut out a square of heavy corrugated cardboard larger than the screen size and taped it to the outer case of the monitor. I don't think it would prevent any serious damage, but it should keep smaller stuff from scratching the glass.

I took my 19" monitor to Denver from SLC last June for a LAN party. I just stuck it in the hatch-back of my Ford Probe and wrapped a blanket around it. Made the 1000mi round trip without any problems.

Seriously, good question. I always place mine (21") in the passenger seat, screen facing the back of the car, seatbelt holding it in place.

seriously, the best way, is in the original packaging with the plastic, and styrofoam, and the box....
but i know thats not what you wanted to hear...
so...

i prefer back seat, with screen facing rear cushion, and a trusty friend holding it for you, just incase of emergency stops...

dude, there's no need for a seatbelt. Lock it in place by sliding and reclinding the front passenger seat.

I also just usually place it in the passenger or backseat facing the seats and use my hand to hold it in place so it doesn't fall off. Didn't realize so many other people transport without boxes also. ;)
