What's the best videocard for a weak CPU?

I know that there are topics on what's the best videocard period. Most people seem to prefer Radeon. But what's the best videocard for a lower-end system like my Athlon 600. I haven't seen this posted before, though I have heard that the V5 doesn't scale well. Also, is it true that Nvidia's relatively poor image quality can be solved through proper calibration? I saw one person say this once, and noone commented.

Any video card with a T&L unit will help you out.
Also your Athlon 600 isn't that weak. 🙂

Althon 600 is still good, even though i the cache runs at half speed its not to bad until you start getting up to the higher speed. I wouldn't say your CPU is weak, unless it was some kind of K6 variant, hehe J/K

it's a bit lower than mid range on these boards.

but in the outside world, where ppl's live don't revolve around computers, ur pc has tons of pep left in it.

I know my PC's not that bad; I'm just curious as to how these cards scale on it. Most of the major sites don't offer benchmarks for more "realistic" CPUs, but I heard the V5500 doesn't scale well. Out of the Radeon and Geforce, which card scales better with 'mid range' systems?

Probably GTS cause its got more horsepower and a better T&L unit

Athlon600, a GTS will do you much more good in 3d games than a Radeon, and WAY WAY more good than a 5500.

The 5500 is a CPU hog. It wants horsepower. If you have a sub-700 CPU, don't even bother, IMHO.

The GTS annoyances you may or may not notice. If you do, you'll have to decide if they are too annoying for you.

Yeah GeForce MX or GTS. Depends on how weak though - since you have an Athlon which isn't even that weak. If you had a K6-2, I'd recommend a V3 (even with 3DFX's demise)
