How much is tax and shipping in CA. It's 300.99 after rebate. Tax and shipping is $95? I'm glad we don't have federal health care here...

$325 evga GeForce 6800 GT 256MB of ram...not 128! This is a GT too so it's exactly the same as a 6800 Ultra, it's just clocked lower. You'll most likely be able to O/C it to Ultra speeds too. This price is including tax and shipping. I don't know where you live but if it's not in Georgia where MonarchComputer is located then you don't have to pay for tax. It's like this for most sales out of state too.

If your concerned about ordering stuff from resellers your unfamiliar with, don't worry. I've had no problems whatsoever buying stuff online (and I do it often) since resellerrattings.com went online. In this case I don't have to check them because I've ordered from Monarch before and they're great. One thing I didn't mention was that this card also have a $30 mail-in rebate. I don't included that in the price since you have to mail it in. You'll get the $30 back but it will probably take a couple months.

Anyway this is about the best price your gonna find. This is the latest card from nVidia. Watch out for other 6800 cards. By that I mean be careful as to which 6800 cards your looking at. No disrespect intended to live2game but the one he recommended is only a 6800 and not a GT. It only 128 megs of ram and it's clocked much lower than the GT is and you won't be able to O/C it to Ultra speeds.

Here's the link for the one I recommend: https://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchan...=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=190144

There is the 6800, 6800 GE, 6800 LE, 6800 GT and the 6800 Ultra. As you can see from other posts, lower 6800 series cards can actually be more expensive but you'd get a slower product. It all depends on where you buy.

Here are some safe online resellers that I trust for sure. If you go to resellerratings you'll notice that all these listed below have very high ratings.
Monarch Computer, Newegg.com, ZipZoomFly, Chief Value, FuturePowerPC, Xtreme Gear. The only one that I haven't personally used is Chief Value. They are pretty new but since resellerratings give them a good rating, I trust them. The top 3 like I like and also personally ordered from them several times are Newegg, ZipZoomFly and Monarch Computer. Monarch has the best prices for this particular card of course.

except for the fact that it's the worst card to buy for bang for the buck... pay 286 US$ for something that performs about the same as a 6600gt. yeah, that's smart.

Thanks for the post. But although I have a rebate, it will still be over my 340$ limit, shipping charges, + border fee's if its "over the border"

So id like to stick with tigerdirect, prices are still pretty good, and I wont have to pay border fees etc...

For 340$, whats the best from the 3 sites Ive posted in my original post?

Thats what id like to know..

Thanks!

What a can of worms you have opened with this post...You can buy either a 800XL or a 6800GT for $300 and the fact of the matter is they will both do the job quite nicely...If you are a diehard ATI guy..get the 800xl..if you are a diehard Nvidia man get the 6800gt...if you are almost exlusively a DirectX game guy then maybe the 800xl seems nicer..but if you do a lot of fragg'n in OpenGl..then the 6800gt might be the best...SEE..not really one perfectly correct answer!! Oh ya...stay away from TigerDirect...go with Newegg or Zipzoomfly they work harder at protecting there reputation than Tigerdirect.

Please read threads before responding to them. The OP is in Canada, and is asking about a price in $CAN.

only 230$, I can afford this thing. Hope he has a good power supply though... how much could a 400 watter cost Approx IF needed? (Should I buy a crap 450 watter or a quality 400 watter?

The 6600GT doesn't use anywhere near that kind of power. A good name-brand 300W PSU would be plenty. If you insist on a new PSU, do NOT buy any kind of 'crap' model, no matter how high it is rated.

The poster is in Canada (and actually made this pretty clear), and you gave him advice that would only be useful in the US. It's not a question of currency conversion, but one of offering useless advice. Please read threads before responding to them.

What the hell would shipping have to do with socialized health care?

yes, 6600gt is probably your best bet. anything else would likely be cpu bottlenecked, and the 6600gt doesn't require a beasty power supply.

hope everything works out for you.
