So, upgrading my 4850.... thinking about the sapphire 6850 since it's on the smaller end of cards and my case is already cramped. I'd like the 5850 xtreme but not sure if my PSU can handle it.

This is my exact PSU, not planning on replacing it until I scrap this entire PoS machine to build a brand new rig, I plan on doing that next tax season so it will have to do for now.

I don't know anything about PSU's, how crappy is this one listed below.... will it even run a 6850 or a 5850extreme... the 6850 draws less power so i'm leaning more towards it.

Bought the machine for $500 two years ago, only and last time i'll buy an OEM machine.

Go ahead and purchase the 6850 or even the 5850 (ur need an extra molex to 6pin adapter for the 5850), that psu is decent sincs it manufactured by Delta.

Ah good to know. If you look at the pic it says it's a 460w PSU... however it also says "do not exceed 385w" if you look at the pic. I'm confused, can someone clarify why these values differ?

it says do not exceed 385 watts on the 12v lines. in other words the max amperage allowed on the 12v lines combined is 32 amps.

That psu is more than enough for 5850. The power consumption is about the same as the 6850.
