I just recently upgraded my Celeron 800 to a Celeron 1400 on a Asus P3B-F (I love Upgradeware :D). I have 512 MB PC133 SDRAM and a ATI 7200 installed that i want to upgrade. Whats the best Video Card to compliment the new CPU?

the best is the best is the best, but in any case, your computer is going to be cpu limited. period. the end.

how much money are you willing to spend ??
get atleast a radeon 8500 that would prob match yur cpu well and save you a few bucks
but if yur gonna be using higher resolutions and detail with FSAA then basically it's a matter of how much money you wanna spend
in a few weeks the radeon 9800 pro will hit the market this should drop the prices of the whole radeon line

that is a nice system tho, bet it performs similar to a 1.8ghz P4 system atleast

I would say look fora cheap Geforce 3 ti 200 and over clock it or spend a bit more and get a Geforce 4 TI 4200. depends how much money you have to spend. But like eklass said your CPU is definatly a big bottle neck.

Thanx Soulkeeper. This system has served me well through the years. ( God bless the 440BX )

I am willing to spend around $75-$100.

In what theoretical Magical Happy Dimension is that where a Celeron 1.4 can even come close to a P4 1.8?

gF3 Ti200 or Radeon 8500 are my suggestions.

Tualatin Celerons own. The FSB is actually the limiting factor (PC100 @ 100FSB). If it had a faster FSB, it could almost match an Athlon XP clock for clock. With that said, it could probably do well with any geForce3, Radeon 8500, or even geforce4 ti4200 card.

I heard that the 128MB version is clocked slower. I think its 250/200 compared to the 64MB version wich is 250/230. What should i go for, more memory or faster memory?

EDIT: Those clock speeds are for the Sapphire 9100. But my question still remains, more memory or faster memory??

You can actaully find radeon 8500LE's with different memory speeds from different vendors. About the memory more vs faster. I think in the case of the 8500's look for faster. 128 won't really help this card out very much. But if I were u I have seen 8500 LE's with 128 memory and 250/230 clocks. Allstarshop 9100 128 MB 230/250 for $83 bucks plus free shipping and AllStarShop is a very reputable reseller. BTW 9100 = 8500 LE just renamed.
