Cousin is upgrading and we have $150 left to play with for video. His needs are basically casual gaming so that last few fps' really aren't important ;)

He won't be doing video editing so the all in wonder series isn't necessary. He has an old Viper TNT2 now so anything would be an upgrade for him :)

Any recommendations from newegg, this is where we are ordering everything else.

Thanks

Albatron Geforce4 Ti4200 128mb at nutrend.com. I believe nutrend is the same company as newegg? It's 140 shipped and the sparse reviews give it a favorable rating.

What about the ATI Radeon 8500LE 128mb? I have the 7500 AIW and its wonderful for what I do.

The 8500LE is $115 so that leave extra for something else if needed like an upgrade to 512 memory from 256? Any feedback?

;) For that kind of money a GF4TI4200-128MB is by far the best choice. However the Rad8500 and Rad8500LE cost a fair bit less and are exceptionally good, esp if very close to GF3 prices. GF3 or Rad8500 are certainly wise if the CPU is below 1.4ghz and unlikely to be upgraded in the coming months. If the little extra FPS and AA aren't hugely essential your cousin could get a 128MB Rad8500 and have enough left over to upgrade his RAM, soundcard etc.

if that's the case, then I would have to agree with your decision to get the 8500LE 128Mb and upgrade the RAM. This would be the best bet. No need to waste money on something that will go unused. And he can also get a game like Dungeon Seige or something cool instead of upgrading the RAM. :D
