Whats the best VC at $80-100... $100-135... and $135-$200 ranges?

I'm forever out of the loop as far as the video cards go. I've always been confused by the marketing jargon and Direct X this and that compatibility. I just want to know what the decent cards are at the different price ranges. I'll probably swing for a $200 model this fall, but want to make an informed decision. Can any of you take a little of your spare time and help a poor feller out?

I would definitley wait for the 9700 to drop below 200$ The TI4200, while it IS a good card, is getting pretty old. The 9700 is a much more future proof card.

Madrat, if you go to CompUSA, you can buy a 9500Pro for $129.00. You have to check you local CompUSA to see if they have it in stock, I think they are sold out online. Sales ends Saturday, 9/6. I just bought my today.

9100 ? ? $60
4200 ? ? $100 -120
9600pro ? $150 - 180
9800SE ? $200 ? (as low as $188 on pricewatch) ?banapc

Anyone know how good the performance of the 9800SE is? My understanding is that the 9800SE is a 4pipeline 256bit memory bus design. Possibility of softmod to enable the other 4 pipes turning it into a full 9800.

9800 se performs pretty bad for the price. You only save $35 if it can mod a 9800 se to a 9800, so imo you're better off getting the 9800. I haven't heard of any successful 9800 se softmods yet either.
