Personally I use supernews and it's worked great for me. Granted if you're heavily into downloading from the binary groups you'll probably be paying for more but the $5.95 a month 3GB monthly limit works just fine for me.

If you can get a.b.m.d, which is 1000000 headers, you should be able to get everything.

End of discussion please lock my thread.

What server are you using? On Usenetserver, only about 800k headers with files dating as far back as June 25. And as a comparison, how many headers are on a.b.boneless? Currently over 10 million headers on his group.

I'm using the free one provided by Charter Com. 45kb bandwidth cap but it's virtually unlimited. ~9 day retention. Hey, it's free and I can still get a dvd in 3 days.

I've personally used easynews for years now and have nothing but good things to say. Fast speeds, excellent retention, fast transfers, reliability is high. Their web interface is nifty for certain types of binaries as well (though you can certainly use any client).

You get 7 unlimited Giganews accounts free with our ISP service. Seems to be the highest rated service, but it ain't free :(

Newshosting, Giganews, and powerusernet, which allow you to choose from 4 or 8 connections. Newshosting or Giganews does not but soon newshosting will be a better value than either giganews or powerusenet sense their retention its going up to 40~ days. Though it still depends on how stable you want your newsgroup service? Do you want to beable to rely on it 24/7 365 days a year without any down time?

Oh, great, the ungrateful moron has now invaded this topic. Go back and sulk in your topic. Leave this topic for people who actually listen to others unlike yourself.

I've done the $3 for 3 days at usenetserver.com a few times. Very satisfied both times. Always maxed out my connection and I'd get like 10GB+ a day while I had the service. I have Charter as well but I don't think downloading binaries is a very good idea on their news server.

I've been doing this for quite some time now and my anus is still intact. Then again, I'm capped at 45kb and 2 threads.

Whatever. You've been added to my FF's script kill post list. No need to waste my time and effort seeing your posts in the future.
