Whats the best type of TV/monitor to use for console gaming systems?

I'm currently in the market for a new TV, I'm leaning towards something that is HDTV ready and with composite inputs. I'm not sure if the flat screens have better pictures or not but I've been looking at those as well. What would you say is the best type of TV for console gaming? I need something that will have ultra sharp clarity for some serious gaming.

hdtv use compnent inputs (they probably have compisite too but thats a waste) if money is no object get a 50" plasma tv made by pioneer elite.

You might want to check your console first before you make a purchase.

If this TV will be primary for console gaming, I personally suggest that you settle for one of the flat screens with S-video input. For GameCube, there is a second "digital video out" port but I haven't seen any accessories to go with it yet, and it only does composite (and there is an accessory for S-video, I think). For X-Box, you got an option, but you might experience performance issues as you crank up the resolution. I'm not sure about PS2.
