What's the best TV under 600 dollars?

Okay, I looked at the sunday paper ad's today and saw TV prices are starting to drop. I saw a sharp tv for 550 bucks, it was 36". What do you guys think is the best tv under 600 bucks.

ALSO, I bought a sony 27" tv a couple months ago, but returned it. I would see lots of artifacts when I was watching, and all the menu's looked pretty blurry. Should I get a new Directv receiver? What's a good cheap receiver that won't look bad on a 36" tv? Does anyone know the deal about the program card things? If I get a new receiver, do I need to switch the cards, or will a new one come with the receiver and will I have to contact directv? Thanks

Personally I'm not a big fan of Sharp TV sets, at best they are average sets. However I am a big fan of Samsung television sets, definitely the best bang for your buck. I own a TXN2726 (non flat but still pretty nice) and I would recommend this televison set over the Sharp any day. Yes it is a smaller set than the Sharp but it has a much better picture than the Sharp set and there's a trick to enable 1080i on it as well unless I'm not remembering correctly. I don't know for sure about the DirecTV receiver myself as I work for Dish, but if they're like us in the sale of receivers we usually package a smart card along with the receiver and I'd think they'd do the same. No recommendations on the DirecTV receivers though.

Toshiba and samsung do have a really nice picture quality. Panasoinc isnt to terrible either. easiest way to see go into a retail store and compare the TV's even if they are only hooked up to coaxial and split it will give you a good sense of the wosre you could expect. look at white text on blackbackground too you can see if it blurs.

Toshibas are nice but in my side by side comparisons the Samsungs I compared were slightly better. Granted not a HUGE difference, but still a bit of a difference.

I'd get 6 20" flat screen Apexs and one of those electronic things that divides the picture amongs them. That's like a 90" tv or sometihng.
