What's the best time of year to buy big ticket items?

I'm kind of itching to buy a new TV and upgrade my stereo system but I'm wondering if I wait will prices drop because of the christmas season. Anyone know what's the best time of year for shopping for electronics?

You might be able to get them free this weekend if you live around the Houston area.

February. All the x-mas presents are bought, the gift cards have been used, and the returns are over. Most retailers suffer their lowest sales from February thru April.

January is usually a good time for TVs. Lots of Superbowl-related sales.

depending on what you're buying, it'll vary...but you're correct in assuming that on average, the best sales will be the holiday season. Other than that, you can wait around for singular model changes like BB's had on the Pioneer plasmas...$3000AR is about cost for their 43".

I've had the cash for awhile but I've been waiting for months looking for the right deal
