Whats the best system for .....

Whats the most important thing in a system used for programming (I do lots of compiling because I screw up alot ) so I need it to be extremely fast for compiling. Now which is a more important feature: a faster cpu or more ram. Is 256 ram with a tbird 900 good enough? SCSI or is IDE fine? Anything else I should know, I heard dual monitors is really helpful for programming.

256MB PC133 Ram on a TBird 900Mhz is more than enough for programming... I would say this system is excellent for a little "fraggin" during a short break
