I am thinking of taking advantage of the 1500 minutes for $35 deal. Now, I am not sure what phone to choose. I have heard that a bad phone can make for bad reception. I really like the Sanyo SCP-4000 and 4500. Are they any good? I really don't want a flip phone, because I would like to see the call-id with out haveing to open the phone. Thanks for your help.

I have the Samsung SCH-8500. I know its a flip phone, but its great. It has tons of features - calendar, wireless web (can do aim on it), voice activated dialing, etc. I have no complaints, it can be annoying to flip it open to see who's calling, but it's pretty minor in my opinion.

I got my wife the Samsung 8500 too. Its a nice phone a little bulkier than my Nokia 8260 but it has Internet access.

I prefer the SMS features on my 8260 better though.

I have a Samsung SCH-6100. It has a flip that covers the buttons, but the display is about the flip so you can still see the caller ID. Tiny little phone. Only drawback (for some, not me) is that it is only single band.

i've been with sprint since they had new nokia's. shocking. :Q

my brother has the samsung 3500 which has a clear cover over the screen so you can see who's calling. its a cute little phone and he does have some web access, but the 8500 is best if you want it.

and the 1500 min plan is so cool. i switched to it (without changing my contract details or fees) and i'm loving it.

Thanks for the replies. I was looking over some more stuff and I cannot seem to find the Nokia phones even as an option when purchasing a Sprint PCS plan. Does Sprint not use Nokia or am I just not seeing it?

the best phone in terms of interface is the touchpoint, the one with the flip cover. but you can still see the screen. they make a newer touchpoint without the flip cover but it doesn't fit my hand as well.

I had the Samsung 3500 and then won the Sansung contest and got a free Samsung 8500 phone. I gave my 3500 to my wife. I elected to get the web service on the 8500. Boy, am I really sorry I gave up the 3500. The web access on the 8500 is poor at best. Even just retrieving your email is a major pain. To read a long email can take 10 minutes. The major advantage of the 3500 is that you can see who is calling before opening the phone. One of the only flip phones that allow you to do this. It's a pain when driving to constantly have to flip the phone. I want my 3500 back!

I have the Sanyo 4500 and I love it. Nice and small, yet very crisp and clear. Plus, it's got that very nice speakerphone feature which comes in very handy on the road...:)

I'd try the 2000/$50 plan. Hell, I'd be on that if I could switch. I had 500/$50 for a year and just "upgraded" to 1000/$50.

I'm waiting for a decent PDA phone to get rid of my ToughPoint.

For style/options go for the 8500, for a budget version not so sleek go for the 3500 (some say its better in some ways). If not interested in style and more into clearity/options go with the Sanyo 4500. check out sprintpcs on newsgroups thats what i did. Personally I have the 8500 and the only things that I don't like is the antenna and battery life.

I just got the wireless web option today for my 3500. Seems pretty neat and fast too.
