this has been asked a thousand times...but the consensus seems to be the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz or the Hercules Game Theater XP. Both have the same chipset, just different features.

I recommend the Hercules Game Theatre XP too. Newegg carries the retail version for the cheapest price. I bought it a few weeks ago and it's the best. CHeck the reviews on it on other sites. It's rated as the best compared to the Turtle and SB Platinum 5.1

I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and love it. IMO, the GameTheater XP is not worth the extra $50 unless you really, really want the breakout box.

If you can deal w/ a refurbished unit then you can get the TB Santa Cruz for $55 from Dell's online store. They had a 20% off deal going a while back that I also got in on so I got my TB SC for only $44. Not bad at all (and definately better sounding that the Hercules Fortissimo II which I also had but sent back).

I have both the Santa Cruz and the Phillips AE. Both are great cards. the AE sounds a little better then the SC in DVD but other wize they are the exact same to me. Only thing i like about the SC card more then the AE card is the SC card has Linux support and the AE does not.
