I use WMP8 to rip songs into WMA and copy to my iPAQ. Works nicely.

If you want quality MP3, follow Nefrodite's suggestion.

What is WMP8, and where can I get it?

EAC and LAME are very good by the way... Not the easiest program to set up but worth it.

WMP8 = Windows Media Player 8.0

It comes with Windows XP only, last time I checked.

I use dbPowerAMP, best program I could find and very simple. Converts between mp3 and wav with constant/variable bitrate as well as quality options, and includes the LAME codec.

I can't notice the difference between a good VBR rip on cdex and an EAC/Lame rip any way...so I use cdex cos' it's so very very easy :)

Another vote for dbPowerAMP. It works great, and it's really easy to use.

EAC + LAME for now.

I'm writing my one ripping software right now though. It'll have the same features as WMP8 as far as visualizations and organization (downloads the album art and organizes your mp3's for you. also creates a media library), with the ripping and encoding quality of LAME.
